On Thursday, I played with the Lincoln Pops, and it was tiring. The little bit of extra weight of the splint on my hand wore me out, but the process of revoicing chords with my left hand was much easier than it was a couple weeks ago. Occasionally, I would just give my right hand complete rest and play with only my left hand. I had a couple written out solos, and I noticed that my strength and expression were not what I expected, but I got through them.
Earlier, on Thursday, I had an audition for a church in Tillamook. I didn't really know that it was an audition, I thought I was being asked to sub, and was given a chance to "look at the organ" and play it a little. I was met by a small search committee, however, and had to perform for them. They were, surprisingly, quite pleased, and I have been offered a more-or-less permanent position with their church. I've got to say, I pulled out the stops and chose to sing along with a couple hymns they selected, so they would know I have more to offer as a music leader than just as a keyboardist.
On Saturday, I played a private party with the band, HAL, just outside Beaver. It was mostly our gig, but there were lots of other musicians there who played, and it turned into a jam session a couple times. That was fun!
